Troubleshooting
The Start button will not work, the TV will not connect, the Save button is grayed out, and other things that go wrong.
Things that go wrong, and what to do about them. Most of these are the app refusing to let you do something dangerous, rather than the app being broken.
The Start button will not start
Look for the floating Ready to start? badge on the setup screen. It lists exactly what is missing. The usual suspects:
“Seat all players - 3 still unseated” Open the seating board and seat everyone. Randomize does it in one click.
“Tables must be balanced before the tournament can start” You have 8 at one table and 3 at another. Even them out, or use Randomize.
“A tournament with this name already exists. Create a unique name.” Tournament names must be unique. Add the date.
Percentages do not total 100% Check the payouts footer. It keeps a running total and shows a tick when it balances.
“Rebuys/re-entries need a window - set Last Registration Round above 0, or choose Freezeout” You picked a rebuy format but gave it no window to rebuy in.
A tournament is already running. On the Paid tier only one tournament can run at a time. The app will offer to take you to the one that is live. Premium can run several.
The Save button is grayed out and I cannot tell why
Structures: the structure needs a unique name and at least one level. A structure made only of breaks is not valid. Completely blank rows are ignored, so a stray empty row will not block you.
Chip Sets: every row needs both a chip and a count. A row where you picked a chip and left the count blank will block the save without highlighting itself. This is a rough edge we intend to fix; for now, check your counts.
Layouts: the layout needs a name, and the name must be unique.
The TV will not show the clock
Full detail is in Display on TV, but the short version:
- The TV and the computer must be on the same WiFi. A guest network usually will not work, because most routers deliberately stop guest devices talking to each other.
- On Windows, allow the app through the firewall on private networks.
- “Wrong PIN” means the TV is holding a PIN from an earlier session. Re-scan the QR code.
- “Waiting for host…” means the TV has stopped hearing from the computer: it went to sleep, dropped off the WiFi, or the app was closed.
- If the network is hopeless, use an HDMI cable and Present (Fullscreen). It always works.
I busted the wrong player
Press u. Tick them. They go back to their seat and the knockout comes off whoever was
credited with it.
Do this before you do anything else and no harm is done.
Someone wants to join but every seat is taken
They can still buy in. The app will warn you that they have no seat, take their money, and add them to the prize pool. The live screen will keep a ⚠ N players need a seat warning up until a chair opens.
If every table is genuinely full, pressing n will tell you: “All tables are currently full.
New players can enter when seats open up.” Bust someone and the seat frees up.
I changed a chip’s value and my old chip sets did not update
That is deliberate, and it is the most important behavior in the app to understand.
The Library copies, it does not link. A chip set remembers the chip’s value at the moment you added it. This is what stops a tidy-up in your library from silently rewriting a tournament you played last March.
To pull in the new value: open the chip set and re-pick the chip on that row.
I deleted a player. Did I lose their history?
No. Deleting a player removes them from your roster but keeps every result they ever posted. Their past tournaments, their finishes, and the knockout stats of everyone who busted them are all intact.
(The confirmation dialog on a single-player delete is worded misleadingly on this point. The data is kept.)
My league season will not let me change the format
Once a season is In Progress, the format and the freeroll contribution lock. This is on purpose: week 12 has to be the same tournament as week 1 or the standings are meaningless.
If you genuinely need to change it, create a new season.
My paid features stopped working
Check Settings. If it says Paused · Reconnect To Restore, the app has not been able to verify your license for a long time. Connect to the internet and it comes straight back.
Nothing has been deleted. Your tournaments, players, and leagues are all exactly where you left them. See Settings, Privacy, and Your License.
The app crashed
You will see Something went wrong, and a Reload button. Click it. Your tournament is saved, and reloading picks up where you left off.
If it keeps happening, please tell us. Turning on Send Crash Reports in Settings means we get the technical details automatically, which makes it much more likely we can actually fix it.
Something else
Tell us about it. We would genuinely rather hear about a small annoyance now than have you quietly give up on the app.
